Is your curiosity piqued? The cabinet of curiosities became a popular trend in Europe during the 17th century. Originally it was a display room used to showcase found items and relics in a specific genre or study, such as biology, nature, or art. As the trend trickled down to the lower class, curiosities became smaller and more distinct.

This vintage dome and its contents come from a 19th-century cabinet in Europe. It holds several surgical instruments or "instruments chirurgicaux," as the French call it, pieces that probably aroused the original owner's, well, curiosity!

Our Rare Birds are unique treasures we’ve acquired from across the globe. Because they've been around for some time and are well traveled, they often have worn features. But that, of course, is what makes them so wonderful and also why we must say all sales are final.

To the best of our knowledge, all information is accurate, while sometimes impossible to confirm.
