Landscape scenes, like the one hand-painted on this stout jar, once captured the beauty and romance of elaborate Chinese gardens. In the 16th century, the beloved blue and white pottery made in Jingdezhen, China was exported to Europe and became a widespread household item in homes of the upper class. The origins of blue and white pottery, however, are rooted in Persian history, making its way down the Silk Road into China. This Chinese Lidded Jar retains the same elegance as an original with a variety of birds, flora, and even a couple butterflies. Since each one is made by an artisan, completely by hand, every one we get will be a little different from the other. Watertight. For decorative use only.

Larger than expected really beautiful piece
i bought both designs of this jar. They are large! I am really happy with the quality of them with the exception of two things- 1. The bottoms need felt pads so they dont scratch your furniture which I already had luckily. 2 The lids of both had manufacturing faults/large cracks. You cannot see the cracks from the outside but they are very apparent if you lift up the lid and look in it. I do love them though beautiful hand painted and more blue/white than the Happiness pots
