Decked in gilt armor, this antique figurine seems to boast his mighty strength. Warrior statues, from miniature to colossal, were displayed as protection against evil spirits. This one is shown conquering an evil spirit in the form of an animal, carved below his right foot. Through the years, the statue's painted finish has weathered away, revealing the thin layer of plaster beneath. We love the hints of red and burgundy that peek out from behind the golden finish
