Love in Action - Holiday Gift 2008

Love in Action is a shelter for abused, abandoned, and children from high-risk areas. The Mexican government places the children with Love in Action so they may provide them a temporary and safe shelter. They are located on Mount Tepehua (te-pay-wah) in the town of Chapala in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. This part of town is one the poorest in the area with a high percentage of gang activity, drug and alcohol problems, and single parent homes. They presently house 40 children, ranging in age from 2 to 16 years old. In addition to this, they also provide day care services for single mothers from the neighborhood. With a team of dedicated Mexican doctors, Love in action also helps provides medical care to the children.
Their vision for the future is great, with plans to obtain a larger facility in the heart of Chapala. They would like to create a larger orphanage and a fully-equipped clinic. They also want to eventually take in abused women who can help care for the children and the homes, in return for protection.
