Customer Photos 2

Several of our customers are gracious enough to send us pictures of Wisteria products in their home. It's always so fun to see the unique ways in which they style their homes with our products. Here are a few pictures we recently received. We'd love to see more. Email us your photos to blog@wisteria.com.

Shadowboxes of Memories

The time of year always makes us feel a little nostalgic, perhaps it's because we're traveling to see loved ones or thinking about the ones we can't see. And as the new year approaches, we're thinking about the past 12 months and wondering what the next year will hold. As an ode to memories and special times, several Wisteria employees filled our Black Shadowbox with items from their past.

Goodbye Summer

Labor Day has often been celebrated as the official end of summer. A friend of ours and a Wisteria customer celebrated summer's end with a party and our Oversized American Flag. Isn't it lovely?

A Texas Reinterpretation

The Butcher Shop Bull

Handcarved Wood Tray Pedestal

Distressed Metal Finial

Inspired by the house of a friend of ours, we took a few photographs in her home of some Wisteria products mixed with her stuff. The result was reminiscent of rustic Texas style. We hope you enjoy!

Moorish Style

Imagine being overwhelmed by passionate reds, intense blues, and shimmering yellows followed by a trance from the detailed, intricate patterns. Moorish style is quite like that.

It is derived from a Western style based on the architecture and decorative arts of the Islamic culture (the Moors) of northwest Africa and of southern Spain. The Alhambra Palace, located in Granada, Spain, is the finest surviving example of the Moorish style.

The Moorish style, which has recently been rediscovered, has a closer affiliation with Moroccan culture and its sensual appeal through art and colors. The style is very unique and does the job if you are looking for a variation of intensity to counterbalance an otherwise simple room.

Take a peek at two of our products, the Alhambra Lamp, and the Moorish Chest, to familiarize yourself with the vibrant passion the Moorish style invokes.

And here's some photos from one of our employees who actually took a trip to the Alhambra Palace!

Kuba Cloth

The products we've kept around for a long time are truly some of the most special ones. These Kuba Cloth Pillows are a perfect example. One of our friends from Africa, Mohammed, travels all over the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa in search of Kuba cloth from various tribes and villages. He seeks to promote the talents and amazing artistry of the people who make these ornate cloths.

The Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo weave strips of raffia (natural fibers made from the leaves of the raffia-palm) to create a cloth that they drape around themselves at celebrations. We loved their graphic style and the texture that comes from handmaking these cloths out of raffia. And, because they're handmade, every single one is different; indeed another aspect that makes them so great.

Southern Living Idea House

Each year Southern Living features beautiful homes and interior design through its Idea Houses. In 2008, they featured several pieces of furniture and accessories from Wisteria in the Fort Worth Idea House (in Fort Worth, Texas). Since the house was within driving distance for us, many of the Wisteria employees were able to visit the house and see our products featured in a completely new environment. That relationship with Southern Living worked out so well that they decided to feature us in both of their Idea Houses this year! It's so great to know others appreciate our products, and we love seeing their ideas for using them.

Below are some pictures from the Southern Living Idea House in Mustang Island, Texas. You can see our products in the Dahlonega, Georgia Idea House as well the Mustang Island one.

We always enjoying seeing our products styled in a fresh way, and we'd love to see your ideas. Feel free to email us at blog@wisteria.com with images of Wisteria products in your home. We'll feature some of the pictures in an upcoming blog post.

Lemonade

When it comes to lemonade, you can call me a purist. Now, I've heard stories about people, more extravagant than myself, who enjoy infusing their lemonades with flavors like lavender, vanilla, and elderflower. And I have to admit that sounds intriguing. But personally, I prefer the classic, no frills, variety of lemonade, super sweet and really cold with lots and lots of lemons. That's the kind of lemonade I grew up on. And it's that same homemade lemony concoction that Shannon and I still serve to our guests. While the recipe hasn't changed much since I was a kid, the beverage dispenser certainly has. So if you're a lemonade purist like me and you like to keep things simple this recipe is for you.

Simple Sweet Lemonade
1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
6 cups water
Lots of ice
  • Combine all ingredients and garnish with lemon slices.
And if you find even the simplest of lemonade recipes too much of a task to tackle in the summer heat, don't worry, we've got a recipe for you too. According to the ladies in the Wisteria office, the hands-down, easiest way to add extra cool to your cup is to simply add sliced cucumbers. Aromatic, refreshing, and easy to prepare, it is a great way to pamper yourself and your summertime guests.

Cucumber Water
Sliced cucumbers
Water
Ice
  • Combine all ingredients and enjoy!
