"The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire." ~Sharon Ralls Lemon
Reproduced from a book in our collection of 19th century engravings, this set of five prints was designed to create the look of a gallery wall when displayed together.
Engraving is a technique that has been in use for hundreds of years. It is a time-consuming processes by which a metal plate is incised with with thousands of scores created by a chiseling tool called a burin. Ink is then spread over the plate and wiped away, leaving only the grooves filled. Next paper is pressed onto the metal sheet and an image is printed.
Our tribute to this technically complicated process is our Anatomical Horse Study Wall Art. It is faithfully reproduced from an original engraving from the 1800s and captures the intricate scientific details of Equus caballus.
