This Sweetbay wildflower is just one of 400 paintings done by Philadelphian Mary Morris Vaux Walcott (1860–1940). Walcott began painting at the age of eight, and her talent only grew over time. She and her husband took research trips to the Canadian Rockies every year, and she painted the wildflowers she saw there. Her book, North American Wildflowers, was published by the Smithsonian Institute in 1925. Each of the Walcott's Wildflower Wall Art – Sweetbay pieces will come with a copy of the title page and the book's foreword, written by Walcott herself.
